Were you in real estate and rejoicing at the re-emergence of the seven-pack in most market areas? Don’t look now but it just got a haircut and now there are generally only three results for all local business results. Otherwise, if you want page one visibility, you’d better rank organically or buy ads because statistically, you’re probably not showing up in local business and the number of real estate search related terms that deliver local business results has also been scaled back.
What did Google take away from you in 2014? Did you get it back in 2015? If you’ve done nothing but the same as the past, probably not. If you have been fighting head-to-head with the syndicate websites like Zillow did you pull ahead in your efforts or fall further behind? Did you try some low-cost SEO or link building? How do that pan out? Probably not very well. In fact, probably not good at all. Wave after wave of penalties have hit real estate websites in the last several years and it’s not letting up. It’s a fact. Google loves the syndicate websites but they’re only really a few that are up to snuff to always win the game and even then there are holes in their strategy.
